Ink is a unique medium for Chinese painting and has been studied by literati and artists throughout the ages for its subtle use on paper. In contemporary times, many artists have sought new ways out of ink and wash art.

Lu Jun and Tan Jian Chung both are obsessed with exploring the innovation of Chinese ink and wash. They combine traditional concepts and techniques, incorporate Western abstract painting concepts, breakthrough the traditional forms and compositions, and allow the contrast of the coloured inks and gradations to produce different visual imageries. In search of life and forms of nature in this kaleidoscopic world, both artists present their own views on France and nature with ink.

Lu Jun's photographs draw on the three basic elements of Chinese ink painting (water, ink and paper) and combine them with modern photographic techniques to create a new kind of ink photography that is dynamic and poetic in form and colour. Under the artist's manipulation, the essence of traditional ink and wash is brought to life in the photographs, blending in with the dreamy clouds of colour, reinterpreting and sublimating one of the most iconic forms of traditional Chinese art.

Tan Jian Chung's main focus is on painting, combining theories and forms of Eastern and Western art. In different series of works, the main theme is natural landscape: mountains, sea, rivers, clouds and mist... etc. The painting is a combination of traditional and modern styles, such as the colours of the

Dunhuang cave paintings and the chromatic theory. The combination of figurative and abstract forms of expression indicates the realm sought by the ancients.

“We are delighted to showcase Lu Jun’s and Tan Jian Chung’s artworks to art and culture enthusiasts in Hong Kong,” says Cecilia Koo, gallerist of Galerie Koo. “The artworks and exhibition are designed to show how the artists embrace, change and combine; accepting and blending Eastern, Western, traditional and contemporary cultures... breaking down the symbols of appearances, deconstructing traditional patterns and contemporary fashions, and thus creating artworks with life and soul.”

墨,是中國繪畫藝術的獨特媒介,歷代文人墨客無不是精研於其在紙上的運用。進入當代以來,眾多藝術家探求水墨藝術的新出路。

陸軍和譚建中均積極探索中國水墨的創新元素。二人結合傳統筆墨觀念與技術,融入西方抽象繪畫觀念,突破傳統的形式及構圖,讓水墨的黑白彩色對比與漸層之間產生不同的視覺效果。在千變萬化中尋找生命及大自然的形態, 他們將透過展示一系列當代水墨作品,演繹各自對法國及自然的看法。

陸軍的攝影作品借鑒了中國水墨繪畫最基本的三個元素(水,墨,紙),結合現代攝影技術,在形式及色彩上都充滿動感與詩意的水墨攝影作品。在藝術家的操控之下,傳統水墨的神韻被賦予了攝影中,融合在夢幻般的彩雲中,重新詮釋併升華了中國傳統藝術中最經典的一個形式。

譚建中以繪畫創作為主,結合東西方藝術的理論及形式,在不同的系列創作中,以自然景觀為主軸題材: 山,海,河,雲霧…… 等等,融合傳統與現代的潮流,如敦煌石窟的壁畫顏色,及色彩學的理論融入創作。 在具象及抽象的表現形式的結合中,表達古人追求的境界。

「我們很高興向香港的藝術和文化愛好者展示陸軍和譚建中的藝術作品。」雍廷序畫廊負責人顧素而女士道。「這些藝術作品和展覽是為了展示藝術家如何包容、變化和組合, 將東方文化、西方文化、傳統文化、當代文化……接納和融和, 將表象的符號打碎,將傳統的式樣分解,將當代的時尚解構, 在萬千變化中去尋找生命的形態, 這樣才有可能創作出具有生命和靈魂的藝術作品。」

 

Lu Jun (b.1962) was born in Hu Bei, he graduated from Wuhan University of Technology in 1983. Lu showed his affection in photography when he was a university student, and by as early as 1991, his works were selected and exhibited at the 3rd Shanghai International Photography Exchange Exhibition in Shanghai, China.

In 2005, 2006 & 2009, Lu won the outstanding photographer awards at the Pingyao International Photography. Lu won the Photography Gold medal (2009), the Sculpture Bronze medal (2013), and the Digital Art Silver Prize (2015) on the 7th, 9th and 10th X Biennale di Firenze accordingly.

Lu is the founder of “Digital Ink” painting and started exploring his digital ink art by 2007; and by 2009, Lu dedicated his whole self to art and venture his journey as a Contemporary Chinese Ink artist.

Lu fuses his knowledge in Chinese ink paintings with his photography specialties and his distinct artistic interpretations, this allows him to perfectly capture and present his highlighted novelty fantasies with an abstract and contemporary artistic expression… with the moments where the ink and colors interacted with the water… just like any traditional Chinese ink painting. Lu was honored as one of the World’s top 100 artists—Creative Genius: 100 Contemporary Artists (2009), by Masters of Today Limited in London, England.

His works are collected by Museums: Thai National Gallery, Macao Museum of Art, Zhuhai Museum, Shenzhen Art Museum, Guyuan Museum of ART; international corporations: HSBC, Waldorf Astoria Hotels, Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, and international private collectors.

陸軍於1962年生於湖北省,於1983年畢業於武漢理工大學。他在大學期間已表現出對攝影的熱愛。而早在1991年,他的作品就被選中在第三屆上海國際攝影交流展上展出。

在2005年,2006年和2009年,陸軍在平遙國際攝影大賽中獲得優秀攝影獎。 他亦於第7屆,第9屆和第10屆佛羅倫斯藝術雙年展中分別獲得了攝影金獎(2009),雕塑銅獎(2013)和數字藝術銀獎(2015)。

陸軍是“數字水墨”的創始人,並於2007年開始潛心鑽研數字水墨創作;2009年,陸軍立志全心投入藝術世界,遂成為一名中國當代水墨藝術家。

陸軍的大幅攝影作品借鑒了中國水墨繪畫最基本的三個元素(水,墨,紙),結合現代攝影技術,在形式及色彩上都充滿動感與詩意的新一種水墨攝影作品。在藝術家 的操控之下,傳統水墨的神韻被賦予了攝影中,融合在夢幻般的彩雲中,重新詮釋併升華了中國傳統藝術中最經典的一個形式。他創新的藝術理念使他被英國倫敦Masters of Today Limited「創意天才:100位當代藝術家(2009)」評為100位最具創意的當代藝術家之一。

Tan Jianzhong(b.1976) was born in Tainan, Taiwan. Tan started to study painting and sketching in the studio of Teacher Chen Huidong since elementary school. In junior high school, he studied at Tainan Jianxing Junior High, due to the recommendation of the school's art teacher, Tan applied for the art class of National Tainan No. , Watercolor, ink and calligraphy. In 1994, he was admitted to the Painting and Calligraphy Group of the Fine Arts Department of the National Taiwan University of the Arts. He was taught by teachers such as Li Qimao, Su Fengnan, Luo Zhengxian, Lin Jinzhong, Ruan Changyao... and learned from basic traditional landscapes, characters, flowers and birds and other different themes and styles. During the four years of university, he used ink and wash as the main creative medium and participated in exhibitions all over Taiwan.

In 2001, he went to France to study and studied French. From 2002 to 2003, he studied art history at the Second University of South Western France. In 2003, he was admitted to the Department of Plastic Arts of the Strasbourg Higher School of Decorative Arts in France. In 2005, he obtained the French National Model. Diploma of Arts (DNAP), obtained the French National Diploma in Modeling Expression (DNSEP) in 2007.

After graduating from the art school, he continued to study art management at the University of Metz, France. In 2008, he took an internship at the Musée d'Art moderne et d'Art Contemporain de Nice, France. Participated in the art studio teaching plan design and guided work. Assist British artist Richard Long in creating and setting up the exhibition, planning the teaching materials of the exhibition, and translating the introduction of the museum. After the internship, he obtained the Master Professionnel Esthétique, Art et Sociologie de la Culture, Expertise in the same year. et Médiation culturelle), in 2009, continued to pursue a doctorate in art at the University of Lorraine, under the guidance of French professor Roland Huesca, a scholar of aesthetics and contemporary art theory. The thesis research mainly focuses on the theories of museology, modern and contemporary art history, with Pompey Paris, France The exhibition of the Art and Culture Center of Dudu is the proposition, discussing cross-field curation, various trends in cultural geography, and passed the oral examination of thesis in 2016.

During Tan’s Ph.D. study period, he began to teach Chinese ink painting in different local studios, and began to focus on painting again, combining the theories and forms of Eastern and Western art. In different series of creations, the main themes of natural landscapes: mountains, seas, rivers , clouds and fog... , the expression of painting is combined with traditional and modern trends, such as the color of Dunhuang grottoes and the theory of chromatology, into the creation. The combination of concrete and abstract forms of expression expresses what the ancients pursued realm.

After the thesis in 2016, he actively participated in exhibitions all over Europe.

譚建中1976年出生於台灣台南。就讀國小時的六年時間在陳輝東老師畫室學習繪畫和素描,國中就讀台南建興國中,因學校美術老師推薦,報考國立台南二中美術班,在讀美術班期間,1991年到1994,開始學習素描、水彩、水墨和書法。1994年考進國立台灣藝術大學美術系書畫組,受李奇茂、蘇峰男、羅政賢、林進忠和阮常耀...等老師教導,從基本傳統山水,人物,花鳥等不同主題及風格學習。大學四年期間以水墨為主要創作媒介,並參於在台灣各地的展覽。

2001年到法國留學並學習法文,2002年到2003年在法國南西第二大學就讀藝術史,2003年,考進法國的史特拉斯堡高等裝飾藝術學院造型藝術系,2005年取得法國國家造型藝術文憑 (DNAP),2007年取得法國國家造型表達高等文憑(DNSEP).

藝術學院畢業後,繼續在法國梅茲大學讀藝術管理,2008年在法國尼斯現代及當代美術館實習 (Musée d'Art moderne et d'Art Contemporain de Nice) 參與藝術工作室教案設計、導覽工作、協助英國藝術家Richard Long現場創作及佈展、籌劃展覽的教學資料、翻譯美術館簡介,實習結束後,同一年取得美學,文化社會學與藝術鑑賞碩士文憑(Master Professionnel  Esthétique, Art et Sociologie de la Culture, Expertise et Médiation culturelle), 2009年繼續在洛林大學攻讀藝術博士,由法國教授Roland Huesca, 美學及當代藝術理論學者指導,論文研究主要從博物館學,現代及當代藝術史的理論,以法國巴黎龐畢度藝術及文化中心的展覽為命題,探討跨領域的策展,文化地理的種種趨勢,2016年通過論文口試.

博士研究期間,開始在當地不同的畫室教授水墨,重新開始以繪畫創作為主,結合東西方藝術的理論及形式. 在不同的系列創作中,以自然景觀為主軸為題材: 山,海,河,雲霧...等等,將繪畫的表現,結合傳統與現代的潮流,如敦煌石窟的壁畫顏色,及色彩學的理論融入創作. 在具象及抽象的表現形式的結合中,表達古人追求的境界。

 在2016年論文結束後,更積極參與歐洲各地的展覽.
