Tan Jianzhong(b.1976) was born in Tainan, Taiwan. Tan started to study painting and sketching in the studio of Teacher Chen Huidong since elementary school. In junior high school, he studied at Tainan Jianxing Junior High, due to the recommendation of the school's art teacher, Tan applied for the art class of National Tainan No. , Watercolor, ink and calligraphy. In 1994, he was admitted to the Painting and Calligraphy Group of the Fine Arts Department of the National Taiwan University of the Arts. He was taught by teachers such as Li Qimao, Su Fengnan, Luo Zhengxian, Lin Jinzhong, Ruan Changyao... and learned from basic traditional landscapes, characters, flowers and birds and other different themes and styles. During the four years of university, he used ink and wash as the main creative medium and participated in exhibitions all over Taiwan.
In 2001, he went to France to study and studied French. From 2002 to 2003, he studied art history at the Second University of South Western France. In 2003, he was admitted to the Department of Plastic Arts of the Strasbourg Higher School of Decorative Arts in France. In 2005, he obtained the French National Model. Diploma of Arts (DNAP), obtained the French National Diploma in Modeling Expression (DNSEP) in 2007.
After graduating from the art school, he continued to study art management at the University of Metz, France. In 2008, he took an internship at the Musée d'Art moderne et d'Art Contemporain de Nice, France. Participated in the art studio teaching plan design and guided work. Assist British artist Richard Long in creating and setting up the exhibition, planning the teaching materials of the exhibition, and translating the introduction of the museum. After the internship, he obtained the Master Professionnel Esthétique, Art et Sociologie de la Culture, Expertise in the same year. et Médiation culturelle), in 2009, continued to pursue a doctorate in art at the University of Lorraine, under the guidance of French professor Roland Huesca, a scholar of aesthetics and contemporary art theory. The thesis research mainly focuses on the theories of museology, modern and contemporary art history, with Pompey Paris, France The exhibition of the Art and Culture Center of Dudu is the proposition, discussing cross-field curation, various trends in cultural geography, and passed the oral examination of thesis in 2016.
During Tan’s Ph.D. study period, he began to teach Chinese ink painting in different local studios, and began to focus on painting again, combining the theories and forms of Eastern and Western art. In different series of creations, the main themes of natural landscapes: mountains, seas, rivers , clouds and fog... , the expression of painting is combined with traditional and modern trends, such as the color of Dunhuang grottoes and the theory of chromatology, into the creation. The combination of concrete and abstract forms of expression expresses what the ancients pursued realm.
After the thesis in 2016, he actively participated in exhibitions all over Europe.
譚建中1976年出生於台灣台南。就讀國小時的六年時間在陳輝東老師畫室學習繪畫和素描,國中就讀台南建興國中,因學校美術老師推薦,報考國立台南二中美術班,在讀美術班期間,1991年到1994,開始學習素描、水彩、水墨和書法。1994年考進國立台灣藝術大學美術系書畫組,受李奇茂、蘇峰男、羅政賢、林進忠和阮常耀...等老師教導,從基本傳統山水,人物,花鳥等不同主題及風格學習。大學四年期間以水墨為主要創作媒介,並參於在台灣各地的展覽。
2001年到法國留學並學習法文,2002年到2003年在法國南西第二大學就讀藝術史,2003年,考進法國的史特拉斯堡高等裝飾藝術學院造型藝術系,2005年取得法國國家造型藝術文憑 (DNAP),2007年取得法國國家造型表達高等文憑(DNSEP).
藝術學院畢業後,繼續在法國梅茲大學讀藝術管理,2008年在法國尼斯現代及當代美術館實習 (Musée d'Art moderne et d'Art Contemporain de Nice) 參與藝術工作室教案設計、導覽工作、協助英國藝術家Richard Long現場創作及佈展、籌劃展覽的教學資料、翻譯美術館簡介,實習結束後,同一年取得美學,文化社會學與藝術鑑賞碩士文憑(Master Professionnel Esthétique, Art et Sociologie de la Culture, Expertise et Médiation culturelle), 2009年繼續在洛林大學攻讀藝術博士,由法國教授Roland Huesca, 美學及當代藝術理論學者指導,論文研究主要從博物館學,現代及當代藝術史的理論,以法國巴黎龐畢度藝術及文化中心的展覽為命題,探討跨領域的策展,文化地理的種種趨勢,2016年通過論文口試.
博士研究期間,開始在當地不同的畫室教授水墨,重新開始以繪畫創作為主,結合東西方藝術的理論及形式. 在不同的系列創作中,以自然景觀為主軸為題材: 山,海,河,雲霧...等等,將繪畫的表現,結合傳統與現代的潮流,如敦煌石窟的壁畫顏色,及色彩學的理論融入創作. 在具象及抽象的表現形式的結合中,表達古人追求的境界。
在2016年論文結束後,更積極參與歐洲各地的展覽.
