Simon CHIM (b.1968) was born in Hong Kong. His love in art blossomed at an early age where Chim finished his high school at a Taipei art and craft school in 1987. In 1986, at the age of 18, he was among the youngest artist shortlisted to join the “Abstract Ink Painting in Asia” show at the Taipei Fine Art Museum. Chim further his study in Vancouver and was graduated at Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1991, majoring in Fine Art (3-Dimensional Studies).
Chim was very much moved by the Chinese history, it’s culture and philosophy… “I am as much a positive space in a negative space as I am a negative space in a positive space—this is how Chim related himself to the Yin & Yang of the Chinese philosophy. Together with the opportunity in continuing his education in the West, Chim loves to blend in the west with the east in a bold and adventurous way—he fuses his creativeness into everyday life with his own perception in art, be it a sculpture, a table or a pair of sunglasses… Chim transforms art to a delightful way of living!
