LIU Yu-Chi 劉于祺

Yu-Chi was from Yunlin and graduated from the Department of Visual Communication, Taipei City University. Majored in pottery during school and regarded pottery as a lifelong ambition. She moved to Taichung for full-time creation in July 2018, and created a brand “于時 Yu’s Ceramics” She is responsible for the research and development, production, and sales of brand products; she continues to work hard on the road of ceramic art.
劉于祺, 1992 年生，台北市立大學視覺藝術學系畢業。在學期間主修陶藝，並將陶藝做為畢生志向；2018年7月搬至台中全職創作，創有品牌【于時 Yu’s Ceramics】，負責品牌商品研發、製作、販售等事項；在陶藝的路上持續努力前進。
Artist Statement
The events and emotions that arise in daily life are like scattered starlight—some bright, some dim, yet all shimmering with the vitality of existence and the promise of growth. As time passes, our senses and feelings inevitably fade; while these impressions remain vivid, I seek to preserve them as raw material, documenting the reflections and responses born from my own lived experience.
The everyday can remain merely ordinary, or it can be savored. Life may appear unremarkable on the surface, yet when we truly recognize and cherish the emotions embedded within it, our understanding of living deepens. We come to see that the companionship and care surrounding us do not emerge from nothing—these sources of spiritual support and emotional release are immeasurably precious, forming essential components of who we are.
In recent years of demanding life, I have come to fully appreciate the importance of tending to one's body and mind. A meditation course I once took left a profound impression: by regulating my breath, everything external and internal gradually slowed. Negative emotions were exhaled and released; I imagined light, received light. Though brief, these moments brought immense calm and restoration—an invaluable anchor for my spirit of late.
For me, creation is the act of recording life. The figures that appear are, more often than not, projections of the self. Beyond emotional connection, I am drawn to experimenting with diverse forms and glazes, hoping that with each accumulated work, I grow alongside my creations.

那些日常發生的事件與情緒，像是點點星光，雖然有好有壞，卻也閃爍著生活、帶來成長；隨著時間，感官和情緒會越來越消逝，趁著情感還很鮮明時作為原料，我想好好記錄下來，關於這些自身經歷所產生的反思及反饋。
日常可以只是日
常，也可以細細品味；看似平平無奇的生活，但當中的情感如果能好好意識並珍惜，對於生活的體悟必然能更深刻，能明白身邊的陪伴與照顧，都不是平白生出的，這些作為心靈的支撐與宣洩，都是彌足珍貴的，組成一個人的重要部分之一。
在近年的忙碌生活中，也確切體會到了好好照護自己身心的重要性，曾經的冥想課程就帶給我很大的感觸，在調整自己呼吸頻率之下，一切的外在與內在都緩慢下來，將不需要的負面情緒隨著吐氣排出，想像光芒、接受光芒，雖然時間短暫卻帶來很大的平靜與修復感，是近期心靈上很棒的依託。
對我來說，創作即是記錄生活，人物大多時候都是自我的投射，除了情感上的連結，也喜愛挑戰不同的造型及釉藥的實驗使用，希望在一次次的累積中，跟著作品一起成長。
