LAO U-kei (born in 1974, Guangdong, China), is one of Hong Kong's young Chinese artists. He has worked for many years in sculpture, watercolour painting and Chinese contemporary ink.
LAO has developed strong links over the years with the community and his sculptures often explore themes of community engagement and local identity. The major theme of his artworks revolves around life and expression of relationships between people. LAO is inspired principally by daily lives and his works are presented primarily in a concise and fluent way. Stainless steel and copper are materials that he uses for most of his sculptures. His artworks have been garnered by art galleries, art organizations and private collections.
