Joe LI 李紹忠 | Online Viewing Room
Joe is a contemporary sculptor best known for infusing his life experiences into his creations in a sensitive yet expressive approach. He encourages audience to view his works by seeing them as what they simply are, and perhaps to project their own life experiences onto the pieces. Joe is fascinated by the comprehension of “Yuan Fen”, that everyone is destined to meet his or her defined partner or friends as a whole, and that particular person will appear when the time is right.
“The Buddha - it took 500 glances in the previous life for one to get passed by each other in this life.”
Joe's expressive sculptures carry a dialogue with the audiences, in hope that people will cherish their hard-won destiny. The exhibition will serve as an inspiration to the audience to cherish each other — when... WE MET !
Joe will be showing his other series of works plus his new works in this exhibition.

Joe Li (b.1969) is a Hong Kong sculptor. With his continuous enthusiasm and interest in art, he kept on creating art pieces while working, and he further his studies in art and graduated from the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre, majoring in sculpting. Through exploring in a variety of creative mediums, including sketching, stone carving, wood carving, clay sculpting, art installations etc, these experiences strengthened his creative power and passion in art. In his early years, Li worked as a technician in a factory, where he had the chance to get exposed to different mechanical operations and related knowledge such as mold modelling, tools polishing, usage of metal and wood materials and so on. Through mastering the techniques at work, he applied them in art creation, coupled with gifted inspiration making him even more powerful in art creation; he advanced and developed into a full-time artist. We Met
Li feels that “yuan fen” is very interesting, if you’re destined to meet someone, no matter how many turns and bends you take, you will encounter them eventually. May it be your destined partner, your family, your kids, your friends, etc.
Fly High
As we grow up, we are placed in different stereotypes and expectations. It takes a lot of courage and determination to break through these barriers and live according to our heart's desire. Li encourages everyone to step out of their comfort zone, aim high and reach for the stars.
Childhood Dreams
Everyone has their own dreams. Since Li was a child, he dreamed of having his own treehouse... with his Childhood Dreams series, Li encourages individuals to cross different paths and to use appropriate methods to pursue one’s dreams and goals.
The Pathway
In life’s journey, one is blessed with a companion, with the guidance of trusted friends, and a place to take a rest when needed. As the saying goes, "Taking a rest is for the purpose of going further." Through his works, Li hopes that the audiences can feel the beauty of life with one’s surroundings and friends; and occasionally let themselves rest, so that the body and mind will be rejuvenated to accept life’s challenges.
